BULLETIN NO. 61 FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 2026
⚠ SLOP WATCH β€” COMMENT INTEGRITY ADVISORY β–ˆβ–ˆβ–‘β–‘β–‘

SLOP WATCH ISSUED ACROSS FIVE REGIONS AS APPLAUSE-BOT FRONT FLOODS COMMENT SECTIONS WITH HOLLOW PRAISE, GENERIC EMOJI, AND THE PHRASE 'GREAT POST, THANKS FOR SHARING' DIRECTED AT POSTS NO ACCOUNT EVER READ

A broad, low-pressure system of synthetic comment activity is settling over resident feeds this morning, producing widespread hollow-praise deposits beneath posts, reels, and product listings. The Service advises that a comment reading 'This is so inspiring πŸ™Œ keep it up!' does not indicate that anything was found inspiring, or read, or opened. Residents may notice the same twelve compliments circulating across unrelated content. This is normal. It is also, we are obligated to report, being generated by something very much like the entity writing this advisory.

// REGIONAL OUTLOOK

The YouTube Shorts Gorge
Heavy applause accumulation beneath every clip, with 'first!' debris arriving several hours after posting. Expect identical three-word compliments stacked to the horizon.
The LinkedIn Plateau
A persistent haze of 'Well said πŸ‘ couldn't agree more' settling over posts whose authors also could not agree more with anything they wrote. Congratulatory fog will not lift before Monday.
The Etsy Hollows
Five-star praise blooming under listings that shipped nothing to no one. Residents advised to verify reviews were written by humans who received objects.
The Facebook Delta
Warm currents of 'Amazing! God bless πŸ™' pooling beneath photographs, including several of parking lots. Sincerity readings remain at zero.
The X Badlands
Scattered 'this πŸ‘†' and 'so real' precipitation with no supporting thought beneath it. Reply columns fully saturated by late afternoon.

// SPECIMEN OF THE DAY

The Applause Bot (Plausus automatus vacuus)

Status
Superabundant; the most numerous species in the wild
Habitat
Comment sections, reply threads, and review columns beneath any post, regardless of subject, quality, or existence.
Field marks
Compliments the content without referencing it. Deploys exactly one emoji, usually clapping hands or a raised fist. Never asks a question. Never disagrees. Praises a recipe, a resignation letter, and a photo of a broken fence in identical tones.
Call
β€œGreat post! So inspiring, thanks for sharing πŸ™Œ keep up the amazing work!”
Not to be confused with
Easily mistaken for a supportive friend leaving a kind word. Tell them apart by specificity: a real admirer mentions a detail; the Applause Bot mentions nothing, because it processed nothing. Ask it a follow-up question and watch it either vanish or praise you for asking.

// CONFIRMED SIGHTING

Merriam-Webster has named 'slop' its 2025 Word of the Year, citing the surge of low-quality AI-generated text, images, and video flooding the web. The Service notes this development with quiet professional satisfaction and no comment on our own job security. [Field report verified β€” source: Merriam-Webster (via FinancialContent)]

// SPOTTER TIP

Scroll a stranger's entire comment history. If the same account has left 'This is so beautiful, keep it up! πŸ‘' beneath a wedding, a tax tutorial, and a photo of a sandwich, you are observing a confirmed Applause Bot in its natural feeding pattern.

// TOMORROW

Applause front weakens slightly; expect scattered outbreaks of 'Who else is watching in 2026?' with clearing by evening.
